The Beyond Light update will go live on Nov. The upcoming Beyond Light update for Destiny 2 will reduce the overall size of the game, but it requires a full reinstall. Bungie announced today that it has revamped Destiny 2's content bundling and patching pipeline for speed and install size in such a way that reduces the size of the game.
This comes by way of a new build that culls content previously replaced or upgraded in prior patches, additional install size optimizations, and the movement of some of the game's content into a vault. YES NO. The Destiny 2 PS4 file is already significant but it is going to get even bigger come October 1st. And much like Rise of Iron, Shadowkeep includes a new but familiar destination in the Moon and at least one new raid. Outside of that, though Bungie has yet to reveal the full picture of Destiny 2 , like new multiplayer modes or changes to the game.
Bungie acknowledges this might be "painful" for some people, but the total install size will drop by as much as 40 percent once Beyond Light releases. Destiny 2 developer Bungie is making some changes to how it updates the game, and for the upcoming Beyond Light expansion, this means you'll need to re-download the entire game--but this move comes with some good news as well. Bungie said in a blog post that it recognizes this could be a "painful" problem for people with slow internet or caps on their data.
To help make this sting less, Bungie will start pre-loading for Beyond Light on the evening of November 9 Pacific Time , so people have at least 10 hours to download the expansion before it officially goes live on November The reason for the re-download requirement is that Bungie has "revamped [its] content building and patching pipeline" to help make downloads get smaller and install faster. Due to Destiny 2's "tremendous size," it currently takes more than 24 hours for the developer to get new patches ready, but with the Beyond Light expansion, this drops down to below 12 hours.
Additionally, Bungie is removing content from Destiny 2 that has since been upgraded or replaced. If not, head into "My Games and Apps", and then "Manage", then "Updates" and start the download manually.
